Fat Daddy Ice Cream
(printable recipe)

Makes 1 1/2 quarts

1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup malted milk powder
6 large egg yolks

peanut butter fudge sauce
chocolate covered peanut-butter filled pretzels

Warm milk, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Whisk egg yolks and slowly incorporate warm milk mixture, whisking constantly to combine.  Return egg/milk mixture to the pan and stir constantly over medium heat until the custard coats the back of a spoon.

Meanwhile, whisk together the cream, malted milk powder, and vanilla and place it in a large bowl with a strainer over the top.  Pour finished custard through the strainer and stir into the cream mixture.

Chill thoroughly and then freeze according to your ice cream machine's instructions.  Layer the ice cream into a freezer-proof container, alternating layers of ice cream, peanut butter fudge sauce, and chocolate covered pretzels.

Fat Momma Ice Cream! This looks amazing and with a sweep of my magic wand I can easily tweak it gluten-free. You and your ice cream! As I recall, I've already been taken away by your blackberry ice cream and it seems you posted a quirky tea ice cream recipe once upon a time. I think I tried that one, too. Knock it off with the ice cream, would you please. That is my all-time biggest weakness. Well, that and pancakes. And waffles. And maybe red wine now and then.

OH I want a scoop right now. I love malt flavors, and I'm sure that this would be perfect with one of my chocolate brownies. Thank you for sharing this delicious treat. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Thanks for getting mine off to a sweet start!

WOW! I'm sure this ice cream is delicious. I wonder if my sister can eat ice cream this week. Last March 24, her wisdom tooth was pulled out by her dentist. I'll just save your link so I have the instructions. I hope she'll be fine on April fool's day, so we can both eat this ice cream.
